Building SDcard
Hello friends, I am going to try to build an sd adapter to connect it to the serial port in an external way, so far I have always used this mod internally eliminating the resistance "R620" of the main board. I want to know if it is possible to build an SDcard without removing any component from the main card and using only an SD to microSD adapter? regards.

Dreamshell Boot Loader and VMU manager
Good Day to all dreamcast lovers out there.
I am using Dreamshell 4.0 RC4 on a Japanese Dreamcast with IDE / SD / VGA / reset button mod.
I noticed that some games only work on ISO LOADER 0.6.0 other games work better in ISO LOADER 0.6.6.
Have not tried using ISO LOADER 0.7.x yet, since I read in the relevant threat that it only supports optimized GDI's.
I have an issue with the boot loader, to explain:
I have put Dreamshell 4.0 RC4 with ISO loader 0.6.6 on my SD card
I have put Dreamshell 4.0 RC4 with ISO loader 0.6.0 on my IDE drive
Noticed that my Dreamcast is always booting from SD, there is no VMU save for Dreamshell on any of the connected VMU's.
When I reset Dreamshell and access the boat loader by pressing START I can choose between IDE and SD. But even when I select IDE it still boots from SD.
I can boot the IDE drive fine when I disconnect the SD card before boot.
My questions are
1) How is it possible that I cannot boot from IDE with SD connected?
2) If I want to open app VMU manager, my Dreamcast is stuck on loading screen. have waited 30+ minutes but it is not starting. This is happening from both SD and IDE. Have tried multiple versions from VMU Manager app I found on the internet.
I have an SD Ultimate Pack and an IDE pack both contain a VMU manager that gets stuck opening on loading screen. I have also tried both versions from here
http://www.dc-swat.ru/forum/thread-2236.html
Regarding the loading screen. I have also noticed that when I close any Dreamshell app like ISO LOADER of FILE Manager, it also gets stuck on loading screen.
trying to pinpoint what is causing this but haven't had luck yet.
Thank you and greetings from Holland!

hydra castle
Hi,
I have a request too, I like the homebrew game hydra castle you can find here in cdi and .iso format :
https://mega.nz/#!FrojgCxA!XaDFY7Bx6EHU9...wDtBfEoBwY
But there is a problem, the throwing weapons are disabled because it's a PC convert I guess and there is no controller button for using them...
And it's impossible to finish it.
I tried to contact those who made it, but they didn't want or didn't how to change the allocation.
The four buttons A,B,X,Y are used but it remains the up of cross pad (up is also used for shield but it be can used for throwing too) the 3 others directions are used for moving (left, right, down and climbing ladders).
For me the more "simple" things to do is to allocate the throwing to a trigger L, or R.
I tried to have a look, but I found nothing...
thanks for your help.

Region switch black swirl = Discs no longer boot
I was messing with region switching on my console and switched to NTSC-U with the black swirl option enabled. It seemed to work but Dreamshell won't load, nor will any of my games. They appear in the CD player section of the bios and can be read just fine but they do not boot; they will go back to the bios menu when I attempt to do so.
I'm planning on installing a new bios chip regardless of this, but I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do in the meantime. Thankyou!

1- Extract the items of the exe that accompanies this tutorial in the
2- Download the game of your interest of Neogeo cd (iso + mp3), made
this extracts the contents of the iso into the folder using the
winrar (folder created after extracting the files from the program) and
copy the files from the NE04ALL RC3 folder to the c. \ data \ folder.
Inside the folder you should now have a
neogeo cd + emulator files (taken from the folder
ne04all rc3).
3- Once done, execute the file Create_lum.bat
Create_lmage.bat). a new file will appear in c: when the
process ends (c: \ data.iso)
4- Copy the iso data.iso) to folder 1 and the
keep in that folder.
Now let's go to the music, Copy all the mp3's from the game
5-
NeoGeoCD to mp3_to_wav folder (C: \ mp3_to_wav \), and let
rename the tracks by following the example
Last Blade - Track 02.mp3 track02.mp3, get it c /
all mp3.
Open this file with the Notepad (MP3 To
Wav.bat), and edit the lines by following the example up to
stay right c / o on tracks
mp3 that has the game that you are using. After editing,
save and play MP3 To Wav.bat, wait for the conversion of
all mp3 and copy all music (already converted, wav)
for pasta 1
6. Run segacuemaker.exe and when prompted for the cue name
give the name of ml. (the cue must necessarily have that name)
Once this is done, create the file Create_lum.bat
7-
Create_lummage.bat) Wait to finish the conversion and you will see the file
image.cdi in the image.cdi folder)
Record the image and have fun in your dreamcast
8-
****** Result for Image / Page 3 ******
OBS:
The scheme does not work with all games. Last blade is a
example, when trying to do selfboot the dreamcast restarts.
Kof 97 gets overburn when doing this scheme, but simply activates the
option in beauty program.
Samurai shodown 3 does not work with this version of the emulator (so
like others) but with an older version, in this case
redo the same process using the Ist_read.bin of the running version
the game instead of using the Ist_read.bin from the Ne04all Rc3 folder (vc
you must use the other files in the Ne04all Rc3 folder, only the
Ist_read.bin should be changed)

ChuChu Rocket! Online & Dreamcast ID
It seems there may be an issue with DreamShell and playing ChuChu Rocket! online. When creating an account in ChuChu Rocket, the account is associated with a unique ID which I believe is stored on the BIOS chip. If you try and log into the same account from a different Dreamcast, it will give you an error. So here's the issue. It seems that with the DreamShell bootloader flashed to the BIOS, this ID changes every time you boot. I've confirmed this with Shuouma who hosts the ChuChu Rocket! server. He noticed that my Dreamcast ID changed from one login attempt to another. This results in a password error if I try and log into the same account again.
Is this something that can be fixed?

Como fazer o seu próprio EXTRA.BG.PVR.(HELP!)
How to make this command in windows 7?
BMP2ASM [yourfile.bmp] -i
Programs used in this guide:
- Adobe Photoshop
- LView Pro - Evaluation (not neccessary)
- Microsoft Paint (default windows paint program)
- BMP2ASM.EXE
- Editpad (or similar text editor)
- Hex Workshop
- VMI Writer 0.3
Creating the PVR
======================================================================
First, take the image that you want and crop it to your satisfaction
in Photoshop.... keep in mind tho, that the image will get squashed
vertically, so I like to leave the imgage wider than it is high, then
just resize to 256x256. For example, if I'm taking a 640x480 image...
and it already looks good for a Background image, I'll just resize that
to 256x256.
Next, flip the entire image VERTICALLY so that it will display right
side up on your Dreamcast.
When you are ready to save your image, use this format:
Texture = VQ4AUTO
Pixcel Format = RGB 565
Mipmap = OFF
If you would like to include an alpha layer in your image (to make parts
of the background invisible) then you must save it with Pixcel Format:
ARGB 4444 (with transparencies) or ARGB 1555 (absolute black & white).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Creating the Display Icon
=======================================================================
This is a bit more tricky. Take the image you just made your PVR from
and resize it to 32x32. You can fiddle with it till you get it to look
decent. (This does NOT need to be flipped vertically).
Convert the MODE to INDEXED COLOR with 16 colors and save it as a
bitmap. Alternately, you can use the program LView Pro - Evaluation.
To convert your BMP to 16 colors. (That's what I use).
Next, open the new 16 color BMP in windows PAINT, and save as 256 color.
************* You cannot skip any steps or it won't work. *************
Next, you will need to use the program BMP2ASM.EXE. Have it in the
directory with the bitmap(s) you have made and run this command line:
BMP2ASM [yourfile.bmp] -i
It will spit out the asm code that you will need to patch into your
VMU save. *See Below
![[Изображение: mBhnnq0.gif]]()
Copy this code from the DOS window and paste it into a text document.
(I like to use editpad for it's find/replace feature).
Remove all of the "," and "$" from the text so that it looks like this:
F111F888F125F566F249F137F46AF357 <-- These top two lines are your color

name and description of the VMU save. You can put whatever you want
there. Now, look for the start of the vmu icon. Remember those 2
lines of color code? I've highlighted those lines in the hex editor.
You need to paste your new icon's color code lines in here.
*Refer to picture
![[Изображение: DAeQghV.gif]]()
If using Hex Workshop, you need to select "Paste Special" and then
"CF_TEXT". Once you have pasted in your new color code, you need to
byte flip it. Go to "Operations" -> "Byte Flip" -> "16 Bit Unsigned
Short". Now copy the rest of your icon text code and paste it into the
VMS file starting just under your color code and ending right before
you see GBIX PVRT. I think it's easier to just place your cursor at
the start of the icon code and "Edit" -> "Select Block" "512" "decimal",
then paste.
Note: DO NOT byte flip anything but the 2 lines of color code.
Your Icon is now finished!!!
Now on to the actual BACKGROUND PVR!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Inserting the PVR Image
=======================================================================
This is much simpler than the last part. Just open the PVR image in
your hex editor. Copy all the hex code and make note of how large it
is. Go to your VMS file in the hex editor and "Edit" -> "Select Block"
input the size of your PVR and paste. If your new PVR is smaller than
the one currently in the VMS file, (shouldn't be if it's 256x256 saved
in proper format), then just fill in the leftover part of the old PVR
with all "0"s.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Making a VMI
=======================================================================
All that's left to do is make a VMI for your VMS to be downloaded.
Just open the VMS file in the VMI editor program. Input the title,
description, & copyright info you want. Then make sure that the
"VM File Name:" is "EXTRA.BG.PVR". *See Picture below
Also, you can name your VMS file whatever you want, but it MUST be
more than 3 characters and no more than 8! If you name it 3 characters
or less, DP/DK will not be able to download it.
Save your VMI file.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Inserting the PVR Image
=======================================================================
This is much simpler than the last part. Just open the PVR image in
your hex editor. Copy all the hex code and make note of how large it
is. Go to your VMS file in the hex editor and "Edit" -> "Select Block"
input the size of your PVR and paste. If your new PVR is smaller than
the one currently in the VMS file, (shouldn't be if it's 256x256 saved
in proper format), then just fill in the leftover part of the old PVR
with all "0"s.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Making a VMI
=======================================================================
